Lakers’ Jordan Clarkson gets another shot at Chris Paul

Lakers’ Jordan Clarkson gets another shot at Chris Paul

first_imgPractice had already ended, but Lakers rookie guard Jordan Clarkson stood on the sideline Monday at the Lakers’ facility eager to learn more lessons. Lakers coach Byron Scott offered plenty of feedback after Clarkson posted two points on 1-of-6 shooting, three assists and two turnovers in the Lakers’ 106-78 loss to the Clippers on Sunday at Staples Center.Clippers guard Chris Paul also provided 15 assists and led his team’s relentless double-teams on Clarkson.“I’m probably one of my hardest critics,” Clarkson said. “Sometimes that’s kind of bad. I’m so hard on myself that I get down.” “Chris puts everything together throughout the game. He got his team whatever they wanted,” Clarkson said. “You can see the impact he has without even scoring.”Clarkson struggled with that against Paul. Scott observed Clarkson “tried to hold onto the ball a tad second too much.”Considering Scott expects the Clippers to duplicate their defensive coverage, the Lakers’ coach instructed Clarkson either to split the double team, go around the Clippers’ frontcourt players or pass the ball quickly.“He’s more than willing to learn those things,” Scott said. “It’s just a matter of putting it into game situations.”Clarkson crdited Scott, his assistants and the recently retired Steve Nash for helping him with his mid-range jumpers, pace and passing. Clarkson also said he frequently watches NBA games, including his own performances as well as Thunder and Spurs games.“When you get older, you see how they move the ball.” Clarkson said of the Spurs after growing up in San Antonio. “I used to think that was some boring basketball. But that’s a great team.”All of that fuels Clarkson.“It’s good if you get back up,” Scott said. “Some guys can’t handle that disappointment of not playing well against some of the best. But this guy really loves the challenge.” That left Scott eager to see if Clarkson will “counter punch” Paul when the Lakers (20-56) play the Clippers (52-26) Tuesday in a designated road game at Staples Center.“I can definitely redeem myself,” Clarkson said. “We’re going to attack and play aggressively. All I was thinking about after the game was (Tuesday). I just got to come back and play better.”Clarkson called his latest performance “probably one of my worst games this year” after averaging 14.9 points on 46.2 percent shooting and 4.7 assists through 32 starts. “We knew Chris would come in that way, knowing Jordan had been playing extremely well,” said Scott, who coached Paul in New Orleans from 2004 to 2009. “CP is one of those guys who likes making statements.”Clarkson asked Lakers player development coach Thomas Scott for a copy of the game tape. Clarkson chose relaxation and sleep over watching the tape following Sunday’s loss. But Clarkson planned to have a detailed film session with Thomas Scott following Monday’s practice.center_img Newsroom GuidelinesNews TipsContact UsReport an Errorlast_img read more

It said the seven accused abducted children from their guardians by fraud and were actively involved in trafficking. “All the accused, who in connivance of their common intention, were knowingly or actively involved in the commission of offence of trafficking and for this purpose they abducted innocent babies from their lawful guardianship by playing fraud upon their parents/guardian,” the judge said. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police in February last year busted a child trafficking racket following a tip off and recovered a 10-day-old old baby from Jahangir’s possession. Officials had arrested Jahangir, along with the other co-accused, who during interrogation revealed about other cases of abduction. Later, police recovered some minors and cash worth Rs 43,500 from one of the accused persons. The counsel for accused submitted in court that they cannot be framed for chid trafficking since consent of victim was mandatory to indicate that there was exploitation and therefore, the said provisions were not applicable to case of minors. The counsel further contended that mere sale and purchase of infants cannot be termed as exploitation.last_img read more
