Basketball Returns To Des Moines Thursday

Thursday’s season opener is also part of the Bulldogs’ Military Appreciation Weekend with members of the military eligible to receive up to four free tickets by showing their military ID at the Drake Athletic Ticket Office.Prior to the start of the game, the Bulldogs will also unveil the newest addition to the Knapp Center, the 2018-19 Missouri Valley Conference Championship banner.Drake raises that banner after a 24-win season in 2018-19 and the program’s first MVC title since 2008.The Bulldogs return to the court after a 95-88 exhibition win that saw Liam Robbins score 22 points with five blocks and Anthony Murphy add 14 points and 18 rebounds in his expanded role as a senior. Kennesaw State opened its season Tuesday night with an 81-55 loss at Creighton. The Owls have been reconstructed during the off-season with a new coaching staff and seven new players. The Owls return five players, including redshirt senior Tyler Hooker who averaged 19 points and 4.7 rebounds last season.
